In the current situations of the daily life, stress has shown to be a common denominator on the onset of disorders of immunity, weakness and psycho-physical-sexual asthenia, in a big part of the population. That’s why the intake of energizers has become popular in the recent years, being their source mainly derived from the vegetal kingdom.
However, it is worthwhile mentioning, especially as regards determined “energizers” that are currently traded among the youth in dancing-rooms, and nothing has to do with the products that combat stress, tiredness or sexual-psycho-physical asthenia. In these cases it is referred to products that contain aminoacids in high doses (for example taurine), that combined with alcohol, caffeine and added to the electronic music, can produce partial euphoria, cloudiness and hepatic and cardiovascular risks.
A recent regulation in the Santa Fe province (Argentina) has forbidden the sale of these products in the referred places.
Once this necessary clarification is made, we shall now talk about the energizer products that the vegetal kingdom grants us. To begin with, we should mention, by a chronological question, Ginseng (Panax ginseng), which was the first energizer scientifically confirmed at the end of the 60s. Although the Chinese used the root of ginseng like an energizer and inmunostimulant thousands of years ago, the Russians were the ones who made the first tests of scientific revalidation. Among the Russian scientists, I. Brekhman mainly stands out who based on studies about Ginseng has introduced a new concept in medicine: the ADAPTOGENS.
To Brekhman, an adaptogen is that product which allows after its consumption, to be better adapted to the environment adverse conditions. This improvement would be determined by an action combined with the product regarding its properties: inmunostimulant and energizer. This definition of adaptogen was taken into account later in order to introduce the concept of STRESS, for stress symbolizes the person’s lack of adaptability to adverse conditions of his environment (labor, family, social, etc).
